Silver Projecting Mounts.

On this page we show you the many steps that go into making our sterling silver projecting mounts.

  1. The mounts are made from 0.040" thick sterling silver.

  2. The silver is spun by hand over custom made chucks for the bottom and top halves of each mount.

  3. A brass threaded sleeve is silver soldered to the bottom half of the mount.

  4. The top section is fitted and silver soldered to the bottom half and the central sleeve.  This makes the mount very strong, repeated contact with the stock won't collapse the mount as seen on some of the older silver mounts, made hollow with no sleeve between top and bottom.

  5. Finally the mount is hand polished and if necessary sent out for engraving, before being threaded and secured to the wood.
